KDE4 panel

OK I've tried KDE 4 in kubuntu, opensuse and mandriva and get the same problems with all of them.
1. Although I can move widgets about the panel when I release the arrow they revert to their previous position.
2. I can only get one time zone in the clock (with KDE 3 I can display two or more)
3. There is no facility for keyboard status.
4. How do I get application icons onto the panel?
