How do I upgrade to KDE4 from KDE3?

I just built a system with the Kubuntu 8.04 release CD. It has all KDE3 apps on it. I want to "replace" the KDE3 apps with the KDE4 apps. Last time I tried this I ended up with both which is a mess. Is there a clean upgrade method that won't result in having both versions installed?

Thanks,

Jeff
