desktop icons configuration?

desktop icons configuration?

one day all the desktop icons are there, the next day they're gone, next day they're back again
I don't see what I did wrong in the settings...

I'm using KDE on PC-BSD

another thing is that I get error messages on start up every time about the "file protocol" and the "media protocol"... any ideas?

What version of KDE and PC-BSD?

also, these errors you describe, are you able to give teh exact error message rather than just "about the"?

PC-BSD 1.5.1
The errors are: Fout - KDesktop (= "Error - KDesktop" in english :D ) in the window border, and in the window itself it says (translated from dutch again): "The process for the file protocol stopped unexpectedly".
After closing that window I get exactly the same message but with the word "file" replaced by "media".

Never mind this problem - I had major mishaps on my main pc, and I replaced the windowsXP there with PC-BSD also.
The desktop-icons work good on this one (the other pc was just for experimenting with PCBSD, so now it's just a spare pc)

I'm not quite done configuring though, so I'll be back soon with more questions.
