How to control location where new window opens on desktop

Hello,

I wanted know if there is a way of controlling where a newly opened window, from any application, will open. For instance, instead of opening at the top left hand corner of the desktop, I would like to control where the windows open and provide the location on screen where I would like these to open instead of the default.
