Password Requirements For This Board Are Rediculous
The password requirements for this forum are ridiculous!
I generally use strong password which are alphanumeric and around seven characters long, but requiring a password to be upper and lowercase, 8 characters long and alphanumeric is just plain ridiculous for a message board. I could see if this was something to do with money or something valuable (for example my college user admin home page) but there is no reason for the password requirements to be this strong for a message board.
Brando,
Maybe you're right.
But on the other hand: what could be a good reason not to have such strong passwords?
Rob
I have to agree with brando here. Somehow, I was pretty amazed by the quite dictatorial you are pushing users to choose a password. Sure, it is not unwise to choose a good password, but the user should be able to choose that. I'm registered on many boards across the web, but I have never ever seen something like this.
Agreed, password requirement is rediculous.
Should be user's choice.
And the negative of it is that I have to remember another highlevel password, or I have to reuse a highlevel password for something silly like a forum.
Any comment from Admin?
The password requirements for this board are nearly as ridiculous as my work. Why don't they have one of those image verification requirements if they want to prevent spammers from joining? For a board that really does not offer much in the way of advice or answers, these requirements are over the top. 90% of the posts are viewed but have unanswered questions, no help at all for the community so you may as well leave it to the spammers.. /end rant

While I wouldn't have stated it so... frankly. I have to agree with everyone here. Forums are not high security--I shouldn't have to use a high-security password.
It's not like the "security" is any higher, anyways. I intentionally used real words and just capitalized the first one, which a bot could figure out just as easily. I'm not about to let you force me to use a high security password on something as silly as a forum.
