Submenu on Panel in KDE4

In 3.5, I was able to drag a submenu from the application launcher (kicker?) right onto the panel, where it would act like a button and expand into a little menu when clicked. I used to, for example, to make a little OpenOffice menu so I didn't need an icon for each program but could avoid the Oo.o launcher.
Just wondering if anyone has come up with a method to do something similar in KDE4 yet.
