KDE4 - errors when trying to get Home via "computer"

I have installed kde4 with Ubuntu 8.4. All seems to work ok except when I go to computer - home/network etc it brings up totem with error messages such as - "an error occurred gst decode bin" and it won't allow me to use anything within computer file.
Any ideas, I really do need to make this work otherwise kde is no use to me.
