I do hope the devs come here to once in a while read some suggestion...
First of I saw this
screencast and was impressed by the tremendous strides in which you have imporved KDE, I commend each and every dev on a job well done! Now down to the business, I will quote what I said in the screencast comments:
What I would like to know is if they revamped the compiz engine, or whatever engine they then use for the desktop effects?
I’m heading of to the KDE dev site to ask them this as well, but this has been a mayor thorn in the side of gamers.
Most of the KDE 4 eye candy is based on compiz in kwin, but having
it enabled makes it impossible for one to run any type GFX intensive
game. Try it, you will disable it as quickly as you enabled it.
Leave it disabled I hear you shout? Well, then you have very limited or
not “eye candy”, transparency for one is gone, and I do love my
transparent console windows!
I’m sure there could be a workaround for this, having to constantly
switch it on and off have caused some interesting problems in KDE 4.0
for me, frequenting a KDE restart. Not ideal by a long shot…
However, your screencast has really made me excited! It seems the
KDE devs does have the public’s interest at heart and is acting on the
complaints and wishes they receive, I commend them and here’s looking
at a bright KDE future!
Any idea if there is bug filled or if there is plans on making it better?
