New post: so basically ive been playing around with kadressbook and got used to it so my original post is a bit stupid. i do however have a few tweaks im going to suggest here instead of going straight to bug reports
Merger contacts: when you select two contacts it would be nice to right click->merge contacts instead of having to set a shortcut or go through menus
Kopete wizard: When you have emails that are also IM names, it would be nice to be able to add them without having to add them 1 by 1 from kopete (this might only apply to the 3.5,* branch)
Reverse partner adding: if X is set as Y's partner then Y is also X's Partner & they both have the same aniersary (i doubt there is a need for complex linking just add both ways)
slightly harder:
Calander linking:The ability to store peoples calanders would really help too (i already filed a wishlist for this)
Calander searcing:If you list somebody as attending an event it could come up in thier contact info (e.g going to be at 4 upcoming events
list of events), suppose this has to be added from the calander.
my original post was:
I have to admit im still on KDE3.5.* until i have the time to update and play around with my system, so i appologies if most of this is already in use/planned, but i recently played about with kmobiletools & kontact
My problem is that in my phonebook, i store people with one number per person & with nicknames, however in my adressbook i wanted to store people 'properly' e.g lastname, firstname. Unfortunatly after doing that i cant sync my contacts without going through the hastle of either
1) changing all my phonebook entries to lastname, firstname & having more than one number per conact
2) messing arround with contact names everytime
I think the best way around this would be to allow phone numbers to be linked to phone number names, that are used by kmobileutils but not by contact.
I think the current way of softing contacts only really works for office enviroments where everybody is stored properly, but for joe blogs this isnt always the case. I think making syncronisation as easy as possible for joe blogs should be important, proably not as important as keeping the office situation working, but definatly a goal for kde4.x.
so what do you think? is my usage case to rare consider? too dificult to implement? or will this be considerd for future releases?
thx! Feal free to ask any question as i doubt ive explained my problem/usage case well enough.
But i think that just organising my address book might be a better solution.
