kde 4 live boot problem

I am trying unix first time for my desktop. (Finally got fed up of windows)
I downloaded KDE live - KDE-Four-Live.i686.1.0.71.iso
Checked md5 and burnt CD.

my laptop is reaching the splash screen where I choose KDE 4 live session.
but after this, in next screen, it just hangs and doesn't do anything.

On pressing escape, i see some verbose and in the end,

Drive not ready yet...waiting
Drive not ready yet...waiting
Drive not ready yet...waiting

and doesn't do anything..
appreciate your help.

Hi zombiezeal,

It could be several things: a problem with the CD or the drive, a glitch while burning, etc. Another possibility could be that version 1.0.71 is an Alpha, meaning KDE 4.x is still being tested and has some unresolved problems (bugs).

KDE's a good desktop but version 4.x has only been out several months. Try downloading a LiveCD with an earlier version of KDE (3.x). It won't be the lastest, but it'll be stable and present few problems. Distros such as Kubuntu (7.10), Mepis, PCLinuxOS, Slax and Ark all have installable LiveCDs with version 3.x so you can test 'em out before installing.

Good luck.
