Icon Widget [EDIT]

Hi, every icon is a widget(or plasmoids) in KDE4, would be possible that a widget can manage all icons?

Something like this:

YES!

That's something I have been asking before too. But no one seems to care. Look at all those kde4.1 screenshots, do you see icons on them? No. Why? Because kde4 icons as separated widgets are ugly. Don't get we wrong, I am not judging the art of individuals icons but the way they are arranged on the screen.

Yes.

About icon widgets:

1. I have a problem. After update to beta 1 they have just... disappeared from the list! (if it is bug of beta-1, I can write to bugzilla)
2. without them I can't add links to apps to panel - for example, I like link to Kate to be in panel, but how?
And of course panels are not ready :) but this is other theme

Icon Widget versus regular desktop icon

Could anybody explain me please what happened to the classic desktop icons in KDE 4.0? I used to save downloaded files to the desktop in KDE 3.5 (Windows like style), but now when I save a file to the desktop, it is actually called a 'widget' and I cannot move or copy or cut&paste it conveniently elsewhere from the desktop unless I use the file manager. Is there a way how to use the old icon style?

Separate desktop icons may look ugly to you, but to me, they're like a pair of old shoes: very comfortable and not easy to throw away. Forcing people to keep icons in a box is an alarming leaf torn from the GNOME-dictator's "we know best" book, and I hope that traditional desktop icon support - in every way - is brought back to KDE no later than 4.2!

I'm not saying that you should have to put up with "ugly" icons if you don't want them. KDE can cater to both worlds when it comes to the desktop (at least it used to), but I live in hope that the status quo will soon be restored (at least as an option to those that want it).
