kopete 0.50.1 cannot connect to MSN

This version of kopete was installed with KDE4.0.3 as part of the gentoo repository.

When I press connect: in the Configure dialogue, the MSN account goes from offline->connecting->offline.

I am using a googlemail address, but there is a .net passport for it so this shouldnt pose a problem??

I read in the FAQ about the UserAgent being the kernel version, and if it has words in it, it wont connect. My kernel version does have words in it, but I am assuming this is fixed, because the FAQ entry was very old (I think).

Any help would be much appreciated.
