kde 4 crashes on changing desktop effects

kde 4 crashes on changing desktop effects

whenever i change any desktop effects ( through system settings) it crashes , that is , the screen will be black and blank no matter how many times i logout and login..i have to go to gnome and delete the ~/.kde4 folder only to have a naive desktop with default settings..
