Right click file or folder and it opens and brings up box.
Want to stop it activating files and folders.

I am having the exact same problem. It is extremely annoying.
I think it was an update that broke it.
eh?

I noticed it last week. But the most recent update on my opensuse 10.3/stable/desktop has brought a new problem - I can't login.
But only in kde4
Login screen appears - enter passwd - login screen re-appears

N.B.

The update in the repo seems to indicate kde 4.0.3
But login still show kde 4.0.2

Wow. Hopefully that will work out for you. I can't wait for 4.1 when these pesky bugs will be behind us.

Yeah, it sucks. But I only play with kde4 at the moment. Just not stable enough or flexible enough to use full time.
I'm sure another update will be along shortly to fix it.
