I've been using Microsoft Windows for the last fifteen years or so and now I'm trying to migrate completely to Linux. My distro is Backtrack 3 beta and my window manager is KDE.
In Windows, I was able to manage my Start Menu by going to:
C:\Documents and Settings\MyName\Start Menu\
, and in there there were folders and shortcuts which represented my start menu items.
Where can I find my KDE menu items? I've read that something changed with KDE 3.2, that it went from a directory structure to some sort of config file structure. I'd prefer to use a directory structure, it's much more intuitive and handy.
I installed OpenOffice yesterday but there wasn't any new items put into my KDE menu. When I go to "/usr/share/applnk", I see some of the stuff that's in my menu, but not all of it. I was navigating around my file system looking for the OpenOffice menu entries, and I found them somewhere but I can't remember the directory. Anyway, they don't show up in my KDE menu.
Can someone please give me a finite list of the places where the KDE menu stuff is stored? Also, how can I get the OpenOffice stuff to show up?
Thanks!
