kmail: outgoing not sending

Sending email appears to do nothing (nothing in the "progress bar" in the lower right hand corner); receiving works fine.

The problem is on a PIII machine with suse 10.3 (kmail 1.9.6). I have the kmail account configured the same as a suse 10.2 (kmail 1.9.5) on a P4 machine and it works fine.

Usually if there is something wrong with the setup the server returns some error and one can see the attempt with the progress bar. In this case it appears that there nothing is being sent out.

I'm don't know what to try next.
