KDE 4 : A Huge Step Backward ?

( I've wrote this as a fan of KDE not a critique, but still all the hate replies are welcome ! )

hi everyone

Last thing first:

::::::::::
As I'm reading on this and many other forums that, KDE 4 is in its early days ? well...

Were KDE 3.5.8 or KDE 3.5 or KDE 3.0 these much ugly, slow and and completely NON user friendly when they got introduced?

Did all of GNOME versions, were the same as above, whenever they got introduced?
::::::::::

my point: Does a new version HAVE to be buggy, slow, and completely NON user friendly in order to get released?

Ok I'm a newbie to Linux. Even though I do have 2 other Windows Vista Ultimate systems lying around, I wanted to try out Linux and Solaris 10.

And I'll say, I'm quite impressed with Linux and by Solaris 10.

Even after using KDE 3.5.8 on Fedora 8 and Debian 4.0 for a short span, I became an instant fan of KDE and of Konqueror. (I even searched, if I can install Konqueror on Vista)

So far I have tried KDE 4.0 with

1, Fedora 9 Alpha
2, OpenSuSE 11 Alpha 0
3, Kubuntu 8.04 Allpha 4
4, Mandriva 2008.1

and I've found KDE 4.0 very slow & unresponsive, ugly and completely non user friendly.

After using KDE 3.5.8 on Fedora 8 I was highly impressed by its user-friendliness, sleek look and ultra-fast responsiveness compare to GNOME, but now I'd say, I'm highly disappointed by KDE 4.0.

I think KDE 4.0 is broken beyond repair and is a huge step backward.
