Scim and Kmail problems?

I have always used Kmail with Scim-anthy to enter Japanese into emails. I'm using FC8 (Qt: 3.3.8, KDE: 3.5.8-19.fc8 Fedora, KMail: 1.9.6, Scim 1.4.7) and have noticed that after hitting the <Enter> or <Backspace> keys everything goes haywire. It seems to be repeating characters. I have to close Scim with <Ctrl-Space> and restart it again for things to be normal.

This problem appears in Konqueror and Kmail, but not in other apps like Skype or Firefox, so I am suspecting a problem with KDE. Anyone else have this problem, know how to fix it, or have an easier work around? Maybe I've got my Front End settings wrong? Or need to change Qt?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
