FISH and File Dialogs in KDE4

Probably the most important feature in KDE to me has always been the KIO Slaves, specifically fish. Has the functionality of fish been reduced in KDE4?

Specifically the file dialogs used to allow you to type in a full path in the form:

fish://servname/home/www/mysite/html

The file open/save dialog, showed the remote path, and even allowed for type ahead completion. Now all I see is fish://servername

I have to drill down through the icon display each time to get to my files.

I have also noticed that when using kate, when opening or "saving as" or creating a new file the current directory of the last active file is no longer saved. So again you have to drill down.

To make matters worse I cannot drag a remote directory to the "short cuts" list on the left of the file dialog like we used to be able to do.

Were these shortcomings intentional to improve KDE's speed? Will they be making a come back when KDE4 matures a bit? Am I missing something? Is there a place to turn these back on?

I enjoy the new found speediness of KDE4, and the visual eye candy effects, but my productivity has been severely reduced by these omissions.
