No synaptic or Adept on install

I didn't get either synaptic nor adept on install. I tried installing them manually via command line and it showed a successful install but I can't find them in a file search. I also tried Kpackage manager and it says I need smart channels installed. I am using KDE 4.0.
Any help much appreciated.

RE: No synaptic or Adept on install

You installed from the LiveCD right? I fell for the same thing... the LiveCD is not an "install" CD. They really should make that clear... I spent hours downloading it... you've got to go the way of installing Kubuntu 7.10 and then adding the repo for KDE4 and installing it that way. www.kubuntu.org for more info.
