Uhm, well, no offense, but the chatlog format sucks ._. Maybe in the next release it's possible to make chatlogs appear in the regular chat visual style and stuff? It's definitely doable. I just don't think > and < are that easy to read and stuff, and if I wanna read my logs or share them with friends, I can't really do that in a way it'll be easy to read.
Hope you consider this (:
Hi, I've written a style file which formats Kopete chat logs nicely in a browser, and a shell script which automatically updates all chat logs to use this style file. The two files (kopete_history.xsl and log_styles.sh) should be attached to this message. Just put them in your home directory and run the shell script:
$ sh log_styles.sh
Then open any of the chat logs in your browser. For easy access, try bookmarking in the browser the directory where the logs are kept, http://~/.kde/share/apps/kopete/logs/.

Hi, thanks for trying it out. I've uploaded a new version of the style file to the same place, it should solve the problem you're facing. It checks whether the contact has a nick and uses that preferentially. Before it was just using the email address (ICQ no. in your case).
this really should be part of kopete as it makes reading logs so much easier! Having nicknames/e-mail addresses instead of the lousy ">" and "<" makes it fun, not hard work, hehe
