Upward move when inserting lines in Kate

Normally when someone hits <Enter> the cursor and the whole text should move down. Sometimes when I insert lines in Kate the editor moves the text before the cursor upwards. For example imagine that you type something in the middle of the text box, then hit Enter and you see the top half going up, instead of the bottom half going down.

Perhaps this is not a critical problem but it can be very annoying. Is this a known bug?

I am using Ubuntu 7.10 and have made Kate my default text editor in Nautilus. I usually observe this error after opening a text file from Nautilus.
