question about KWrite configuration

Hi,

I'm using KWrite 4.5.5 in KDE 3.5.5. I like it because drag and drop text (to or from) is global, versatile and easy. I'd like to take advantage of its other capabilities for simple word processing, but the manual and various posts I've read don't seem explain it so I understand what to do.

Is there a way to configure KWrite so I can highlight a word or a sentence, click somewhere on the toolbar, keyboard or menu, and make what I selected bold, or underlined or italicized? Or do the same with a different text size or font? So far, every setting I've tried affects all the text in the file, not the single word I've highlighted.

Thanks!
