Send file from Konqueror using Thunderbird as email client

If Thunderbird is set as email client in the KDE ControlCenter then 'Send File' in Konqueror's File menu does not work. Thunderbird opens a new message with the file name in the title field, but there is no attachment.
If Kmail is set as email client everything works.
Does anybody know how 'Send file' can be made working with Thunderbird as email client?
