Can't disable screen locking

I'm using KDE 3.5 on a Gentoo Linux amd64 machine. I have everything set up just as I want it ... with the exception of KDE automatically locking the screen when I haven't touched the keyboard.

When I'm watching a movie, after about 12 minutes the mouse cursor shows up and the screen starts to fade to black. If I don't jump up and shake the mouse around in time, I have to enter a password to unlock the screen. If I'm trying to watch a full-length DVD, this becomes incredibly irritating.

I've gone through the Control Center and completely disabled the screensaver. So, now there's no screensaver that shows up, it just locks the screen.

I've gone through every option in the Contorl Center that I can find, and nothing seems to do the trick.

From ~/.kde3.5/share/config/kdesktoprc :

[ScreenSaver]
Enabled=false
Lock=false
LockGrace=0
Saver=rorschach.desktop
Timeout=0

The LockGrace and Timeout values don't seem to make any difference. Whether they're set to 0 ms, 10 ms, 500000 ms, it doesn't seem to effect how long it takes for the screen to fade out and lock.

Is there some other section I ought to be looking in? Have I missed something?

Any advice would be appreciated, because this is irritating enough to make me consider not using KDE at all.
