KO/Pi obsolete?

I apologize for a probably naive question of a KDE newbie.

I came across the website for KOffice platform independent the other day and was thrilled to see that there exists a Windows version of KOffice! However, it seems that KO/Pi was merely an experiment, and apparently the project has not been continued since 2005.

Could someone tell me what the reason for that? Is it mainly because KDE4 will make it possible to run Linux programs on Windows directly?

Unfortunately I can't allow myself to switch entirely from Windows to Linux at this point in time, but I'd love to be able to use a number of KDE programs on Windows if possible, including KDE-Pim.
