[kopete] Seperate kopete from kde?

Hi,
perhaps a stupid question but wouldn't it be better for the development of kopete to separate it from KDE and release it more often? pidgin is making a very big progress in a short time and the kopete svn is updating quite frequently too but it all stays there till the next kde release.
