konqueror hangs then crashes

konqueror hangs then crashes

Hello
When I launch konqueror (as a filebrowser) it hangs for a couple minutes and then crashes.
I do not get any error or backtrace. There is also heave disk activity while it hangs.

Here are some things I found while troubleshooting.

It only happens when running as a filebrowser.
It does NOT happen when running as a web browser.
It does NOT happen whrn running as root.

Any help would be appreciated.
