strange effects (weird vertical lines)

hello all

i'm trying out KDE + Debian on my thinkpad 600X. i've tried installing and reinstalling but the outcome is always the same, i get these strange vertical lines accross window title bars, when scrolling the K menu, etc. some themes are worse than others but it's nearly always present. any ideas?
