Smooshed filemanager

Greetings!
Using Mandrake 10.1, with KDE 3.5.2.

Somehow, I managed accidentally to set KDE's file manager to open everything with Kwrite. The file manager tried to open eveyrthing with Kwrite, which of course meant that I could not open a directory. I went to configure desk top and managed to set all to open with Konqueror. But now, starting up the file manager, it opens a new window for each subdirectory or file I open. Trying to set options for Konqueror to not open a new window for each directory or file and restarting the session does not work, the problem remains. Nor does trying renaming .kde/share/config/konquererrc as konquerorrc.old and restarting the session fix it.

How do I reset Konqueror file manager to out-of-the-box standard file manager behavior?

In file associations, all and all files are set to Konqueror. Or should I be using something else?

What config file sets global Konquerror behavior for all users?
