Kuser and LDAP

Hi,

I needed to test some feature like ldap authentication on Linux.

I first tried with a Ubuntu 7.04 with gnome, and never succeded to log on the client using my ldap server. I then installed a KDE based distro (for whatever reason...), Sabayon Business edition 1 in this case. I'm running KDE 3.5.5, and i was realy happy to see that Kuser had an LDAP module incorporate!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) no more editing of text files, and even a "ask server" for the DN... so easy? ?(
NO ;( when i use this "ask server" button, i get a nice error message saying that klaucher doesn't know ldap protocol.... ?( ?( ?(
Searching google for a solution or whatever regarding kuser and ldap, i didn't found anything... on the kde-forum? the same... nothings in the kuser docs...

So if anybody knows and had successfully used the ldap module of kuser, please be kind to give some feedback.

Thanks a lot

Nico

RE: Kuser and LDAP

It looks like that KDE was not built with LDAP support. You can try another one that does. Suse does, and it is one of the nicest, most polished implementations I've seen.
