Turning off the animated menus
Hi All,
I have just upgraded to CentOS 5 and KDE 3.5.4 came with it.
Can anybody tell me how to stop the animated menus. The menu starts at a point and unfurls like some half arsed flag display. I am sure that some programmer spent a lot of time, effort and care to get the effect just right but I find it distracting and annoying.
Please tell me how to turn it off. I can't find the setting for it anywhere in the Control Center.
Thank you
RE: Turning off the animated menus
Go to KControl (or System Settings or whatever your distribution calls it), choose Style, click the Effects tab and disable the effects that annoy you.
RE: Turning off the animated menus
Thank you so much.
I saw the Style entry but somehow missed the Effects tab. As soon as I turned that effect off I realised just how much it was giving me the shits and how much better it is without that flicker going on. That sort of flickering and partial rendering was why double buffering was invented.
I didn't use animation and fading for menus before, but I do now. I don't experience any flickering or anything.
Anyway, glad to be of help.
