kpackager problem

hi,im new here.

I just installed kpackage but can not get it to do anything at all.
it installed ok,but when trying to install/open any packages i get a pop-up window saying
"login problem please log in manually"
then all i see is a command line saying

Quoted

[root@my1-si

no matter what i type in there it just makes a huge mess of symbols
but still wont let me log in or even install packages i have on my linux system.

i am not to familiar with commands i need to use.
but i am already logged in as root and everything else works fine except this kpackage.
ive tried removing it and reinstalling it as well but that didn't help.

im using pclinuxos and used synaptic to install kpackage.
.
any suggestions to get around this or do i just delete it. ?
thanks..

I'm having the same problem. How did you fix it?

if your logged in as root change your "su " setting in kpackage options
i think default from install is "su" which usually wont work if you login as root i think (off hand) its the 2nd option you need.

thats what resolved it for me anyway

Thanks. Yes I found the same thing earlier, although I wasn't logged in as root so the 'su' command (together with pass) should work, but it doesn't.

Sudo seems ok though.
