programming in noborders into an application

hi. I am writing a program that I wish to be able to control with a no borders control: ( ./myprog -noborder ). I know this is possible in xine if we run ( $xine matrix.avi -B). I know about the menu trick where you advanced - special application setting - etc... however my program does not save those preferences and every time i start it up it forgets that i tried to do that...

so ideally if someone knows how to program so when i make a Xv window it can be borderless or secondly how to make my program remember the prefs i try to save for it with the menu trick.

also, what conf file does the menu trick change as it must change something right?
