How do I get a GUI app to always core dump?

How do I get a GUI app to always core dump?

I have an app which misbehaves now and then. I noticed that it doesn't give me a core dump when it dies. I am assuming it is because ulimit -c isn't set correctly but I have set it in Autostart without much luck. Is there a "right way" to do it?
