[kopete] No sound notification even if sounds are properly configured

For some reason, kopete now does not play a sound as a notification even if I properly turned sounds on in the notification settings and the sound files also exist.

What could have caused this? How can I fix this?

have the same problem

I have the same problem with Kopete and also with KGmailNotifier. However when I used Gaim before it was playing sound notifications.
AMD Sempron64, Fedora Core 6 i386

found the solution

OK I will answer myself. I have turned on the KDE Sound System, closed running session and loged in again. And now it is working.
AMD Sempron64, Fedora Core 6 i386
