Show Desktop / Desktop Access Aplet broken

For some reason my Show Desktop / Desktop Access aplet refuses to do anything when clicked.

I've also noticed the command:

dcop kicker kicker toggleShowDesktop

does absolutely nothing when run from terminal.

I'm running 3.5.6, any ideas?
