Making a sanskrit keyboard layout for KDE?

Hi all,

I am new to Linux, and I am using it also for study purpose. I need to make a new keyboard layout, since there is no sanskrit keyboard layout available in KDE. I guess it is only a matter of modifying an existent keyboard layout, but am unable to find documentation about it. Does it exist?
