Problem: Can't change my cursor position using kopete
Hi,
I'm using:
Qt: 3.3.7
KDE: 3.5.6-0.3.fc6 Fedora-Core
Kopete: 0.12.4
While mashing my clumsy hand on the keyboard while using kopete, I somehow managed to press a combination of keys that has set my cursor to be permently justified to the right. I've tried using the menu to reset the font alignment but the buttons are grayed out. How can I fix this? What the hell did I do wrong?
Thanks,
Paul

Settings->Toolbars and choose the toolbar for formatting. There you can disable text effects like in a word processor. Note that sometimes the buttons are greyed out for protocols which do not support formatted text (e.g. Jabber), so in order to get enabled buttons open a MSN conversation for example (at least that protocol supports formatted text).

RE: Problem: Can't change my cursor position using kopete
Thanks for the reply. The problem is the left align text botton is grayed out. I tried this using an MSN conversation. I had this problem a log time ago, but I can't remember what I did to fix it. I've tried resetting defaults in kopete but no luck. Is there a config file I can edit by hand that setting the default font alignment? This is really annoying me.
RE: Problem: Can't change my cursor position using kopete
Exit Kopete, open ~/.kde/share/config/kopeterc and locate the line

Source code

|
EditAlignment=0

(it may have another value for you). Erase that line and start Kopete.

This fixed it. Many thanks.
I'm still trying to figure out what key combination I pressed to cause this in the first place.
Thanks,
Paul
