window behaviour problems

Hi,
I've recently installed SUSE 10.2 with KDE 3.5.5 on my laptop (fresh install). My preferred window behavior focus settings are either "focus follows mouse' or 'focus under mouse' or 'focus strictly under mouse' (I can never remember which: leave it to trial and error).
My problem is that when I go to the focus tab under Configure Desktop>Desktop>Window Behavior, change the focus policy and click Apply, no changes take place - I still have to click on a window to bring it into focus (the default behavior). I have tried restarting X, but still no changes take effect.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ciao.
G

RE: window behaviour problems

Ok, its fixed.
It seems that the 3D desktop was messing things up. I was having trouble with trying to activate direct rendering in glx, so I reinstalled nvidia driver, restarted X (without 3D desktop) and viola: direct rendering=Yes and my window behavior problems are solved.
Cheers.
