mount cd-rom and external NTFS HD

Hello,

I have just installed Linux with KDE.

I am a complete newbie and donnot know anything about the command lines and such.

I have tried to open cd's I have inserted. What I did is I clicked on home, open location, devices and then double clicked the cd icon of the drive with the cd inserted. Then I get the error: the folder /mnt/cdrom does not excist. I have tried to create the folder on several places but it didn't work out. Could anybody please tell me in an understandable way, that is for someone who knows absolutely nothing about linux or kde at all... How to mount my cds/dvds so I can read and copy the files on it. Also would like to be able to read and copy files to my 250 GB NTFS formatted external USB drive but have no idea how to do it.

Help would be appreciated!

Karel
