koffice 1.6.1 and konstruct

I am using KDE 3.3.3 :
I wanted to install KOffice 1.6.1. Many issues trying to install from source.
So I used the utility Konstruct. It installed all the files in my home directory under KDE 3.5.5.
It reported no problems when installing and it downloded many deps.
I cannot get office to work and some questions for the desktop integration. How to do.
I am a power user in Linux but not a programmer. Thus having said that any suggestions needs to be simply stated.

I appreciate any help in the matter.
