launching KDE

Im using Knoppix-DVD HD install, I can get to the login screen fine but when i login and kde begins initializing it puts up an Black Screen and says "freezing cpus stoping all tasks.............." then it goes into standby and won't come out of it. Though GNOME and all other session types work fine, its only KDE. Any ideas on what to do?
