can't stop kde media manager

Hello everybody,

I unchecked in kcontrol under KDE Components/Service Manager the Startup-Service KDED Media Manager.

After rebooting into KDE, the box is still unchecked but the status is shown as running.

How can I stop this service?

RE: can't stop kde media manager

Did anyone find an answer to this question.

I too am irritated by KDE's insistance on acting like Microsoft Windows and automatically trying to mount/unmount/auto-play/blah-blah-blah. I know what to do. Don't try to guess what I want. Anyway,

I have the same problem where "KDED Media Manager" is un-check in the KDE Kontrol panel KDE services but it still starts. This is a major irritant because I have lots of unmounted NFS volumes that I need for work/testing and KDE insist on trying to mount and desktop icon everyone. Stop it. I beg someone with KDE knowledge, how do I stop KDE Media Manager from _RUNNING_.

Everytime after a logon, I have to go and Kontrol-Panel stop this program.
I really could use some help.

Don't say to use gnome. I have another logon name for gnome and I don't have this problem with GNOME desktop. Ahh, gnome is much more subservient, more tell me what you want to do and I'll do it; not so much I'll tell you what you want to do. Anyway I gotta have both KDE and gnome for test purposes and KDE is really starting, oh nevermind.
I'll stop ranting now.

Maybe it helps to (re)move the file $KDEDIR/share/services/kded/medianotifier.desktop

Yeah, it worked mostly.
Rather than (re)move /usr/share/services/kded/medianotifier.desktop
I edit file and change two lines:

X-KDE-Kded-autoload=false
X-KDE-Kded-load-on-demand=false

Now KDED Media Manager does not start.
Now I get a notification everytime I start KDE,

KDED Media Manager did not start.

I can live with that.

Thanks bram85, KDE wizard.
