Search path in kde

Hi,

Where is the search path for KDE defined? I mean, if I make a menu choice with, for example, firefox, where does KDE find the path for firefox?

My problem is that in Fedora Core 6, the search path for KDE is very strangely defined, so that it looks in /usr/bin before /usr/local/bin, and I can't find anywhere to change this.

As /usr/local/bin comes after /usr/bin, this means that programs that I have installed myself won't get run by KDE. I compile some programs myself, and install them in /usr/local, and I expect them to be found first, even if there is another version in /usr/bin.

If I open a terminal and type firefox, the version in /usr/local/bin is the one that is run.
Same thing if I do "Run Command..." in KDE menu.

But if I click on the firefox icon, the wrong version starts.
Also, if I have defined file types for programs that I have other versions in /usr/local.

I know I can just enter the absolute path to the programs, but I don't want to do that.

So, where does KDE find the search path?
