Cant use Konqueror in Super User Mode KDE 3.5.5

Just upgraded debian to use kde 3.5.5 and super user mode doesnt work when I try to do something logged in as my regular user, What can I do to set the system to work as it did in 3.5.3? I need to be able to open Konqueror in su mode and run synaptic as root while I am logged in as my regular user
