duplicate desktop icons for media
why do I get 2 desktop icons for my firewire harddrive ? Memory sticks plugged in only result in 1 being displayed .
KDE 3.5 on Fedora C 5

as it turns out its not resolved . the second icon reappeared
RE: duplicate desktop icons for media
I have 2 systems running this release both of which exhibit this behavior
RE: duplicate desktop icons for media
Maybe this is it .
I need a static name for the device so root can mount it prior to starting the backup (its the backup device) . So I had a udev rule with a 'NAME=FireDrive2' entry .
What I really wanted was a 'SYMLINK=FireDrive2' entry . After HUP'ing idev and re-attaching the device I now only have one icon (for sdb1) and root can mount using /dev/FireDrive2 .
my home system defies all attempts to get rid of the 2nd icon .
one icon is for sdb1 and the other for sdb (this is bogus)
