confining icons to particular desktops

I was wondering if there was a way to confine desktop icons to particular desktops. For example, is there a way to make desktop 1 display no icons, while having them display on other desktops. Or can I make desktop 3 show only, e.g., my Open Office document icons, while having all other icons (except OO ones) show on the other desktops? It seems there ought to be a way to do this, but I haven't seen a straight-forward method using Control Center settings.

I'm not aware of such feature.
