Installing Modem

I am using KDE 3.4.2 kubuntu. I have DSL but had my 56 Zoom v.92,V.90 Fax,Voice modem installed. I did a reinstall and now it is not found/recognixed. I had it set up so I could fax in orders directly from OpenOffice instead of printing and useing my standalone fax. My friend that helped me set it up is now in Maryland waiting for a heart transplant and I do not want to bother him to do this again. I have the driver licensed by Linuxant and my ID number but I need to find the modem first.
