Help with Icon location and changes

Hello,

I am totally new to both Linux and KDE. I have installed a umicons icon theme but it's missing some icons I would like. Ideally I would like to add a hand full of icons and replace a few in that theme. Is this possible somehow? I can't find the system folders where the icon themes are saved too, I had originally assumed I could just overwrite and paste the new ones onto that folder? Any help here would be great, THANKS!!!

Icons are found in 2 places:
Icons that were installed by the administrator/root are found in /usr/share/icons
Icons that were added by a regular user is found in their own home directory, in ~/.kde/share/icons

Icons are grouped by theme/name, then by size (16x16, 48x48, etc), then by type (application icons, mimetype icons, filesystem icons, etc). You can easily replace individual icons with another icon. The hard part is figuring out where to put that icon in the first palce.
